Tortilla

Welcome to another #foodporn series entry! This time, we visit an up and coming Mexican restaurant: Tortilla!

The branch I went to was in Charring Cross.
I found that this was such a nice branch! It had a great location and the whole overall atmosphere and interior of the restaurant was really nice.
The lighting was perfect. I found that it set the overall mood and feel of the place. The tables were really well set out. I particularly liked the picnic type table set in the middle of the room and I just wished the room was a bit bigger.
However, although I really liked the interior, it just didn't have an overall Mexican theme. It really had a more California vibe, which may be due to the fact that Tortilla is originally from California.

Moving onto the food, I thought the burrito was good. I ordered the Medium Burrito (£5), which I filled with chicken, beans and mild level hotness. I'm not exactly very good with spicy food but the mild level spicyness wasn't spicy at all and you can still taste the salsa, which I liked.
I did get quite full with the Medium Burrito. I have to say though, I wouldn't exactly go back to Tortilla specifically to get a burrito, I'd probably go back if I wanted something to eat quick and cheap - I'm not very much into Mexican food.
It was also definitely messy to eat by the end of the burrito... but not as messy as the tacos.
My friend chose the Dos Tacos (£4.50), which are actually soft corn or tortilla tacos, instead of the hard and crisp tacos.
It was very funny to watch her eat her tacos because it got everywhere. It was really hard to eat and the juices kept leaking from the tortilla.
She stated that it was decent but it was insanely messy to eat and the contents had a tendency to overflow, which made it difficult to eat. It had an overall good taste and the contents actually blended pretty well. However, she doesn't think she'd go there for dinner or anything - definitely a quick snack or takeaway type of meal!
The Dos Tacos she had consisted of chicken, mild sauce, chopped lettuce and some sliced tomatoes.
By the way, the sauce pictured below, I found was really spicy! So if you guys don't like spicy food, beware!
.

In addition to the interior, I loved the "How to eat a Burrito" and menu leaflet. I thought they were really cute! Tortilla also provide a loyalty card reward scheme, which is pretty good if you enjoy eating Mexican often.
Oh and the packaging was really nice too! I really liked the basket and the decorative paper.

*Just an fyi, there was only one ladies toilet that was working and we still couldn't use that one because we found puke in the toilet bowl and rim, if you don't go toilet, I'm sure you'll still enjoy yourself!
